Help Slow the Holiday Rush, Simply and Intentionally

The holidays bring so much joy… and let’s be honest, a lot of pressure. There are school concerts, shopping lists, family gatherings, traditions to uphold, magic to make - and oftentimes, moms are the engines behind it all.

We may feel stretched thin, and it’s likely our girls feel it, too, from excitement, to noise, changes in routine… it can be overwhelming.

But here’s the good news: slowing down doesn’t require a cleared schedule or a week-long retreat. Sometimes the smallest, softest shifts create the biggest sense of calm.

Here are five simple ways you and your daughter can rest, reset, and reconnect this holiday season.

1. Intentional Time-Outs

Try shifting your goal from a perfect holiday to a present one.

When you:

  • say no gently,

  • let things be imperfect on purpose,

  • build small margins into the day,

  • or say, “I’m giving myself a rest moment,”

…you’re teaching your daughter that her wellbeing matters, too.

She learns rest by watching you honor your own energy.

2. A Morning Meditation Moment

Before the day takes off, take five quiet minutes together.

Download a free 5–10 minute kids’ mindfulness exercise, grab pillows, and settle into stillness.

This tiny ritual teaches her to choose calm before chaos - and that rest isn’t something we have to earn.

3. Stretch It Out

Movement can be magical for resetting busy minds.

Try a local yoga class together, or pull up a kid-friendly flow at home. Stretch, breathe, wobble, laugh… the goal is connection, not perfection.

A sweet reminder that caring for our bodies is caring for our hearts.

4. Try a Screen-Free Challenge

No shame, no rules, just a few hours of quieting the digital noise.

Fill it with grounding activities like:

  • crafts or coloring

  • holiday baking

  • reading

  • puzzles or board games

  • or simply decompressing and napping

You might be surprised how natural it feels once you start!

5. Create a Cozy Cocoa Break

Light a candle or sit near the fireplace. Make warm drinks in oversized mugs. Add blankets, fuzzy socks, maybe a plate of cookies.

Then… catch up on any and everything, including the chaos of last night’s white elephant exchange.

These tiny pauses might just be the moments they remember most.

A veri cheri Thought

At the heart of veri cheri is a simple truth: confidence grows when girls learn to care for themselves. Rest supports every CHERI pillar: Confidence, Heart, Empowerment, Radiance, and Individuality.

This season, may slowing down help your daughter feel more grounded, more joyful, and more like herself.

Wishing you a holiday filled with softness, warmth, and tiny moments of magic. ✨
